Truckers Expected to Pay Special Tribute to Moms this Year

Moms are very special to truck drivers, with many women drivers also being moms themselves.  When it comes to celebrating Mother's Day, many of us seek the perfect gift, card or flowers to show Mom we care. However this year, a recent survey conducted by the National Retail Federation (NRF) involving nearly 10,000 participants suggests that Mother's Day activities will be a little different in 2020.

Nearly 80% of survey respondents say the Mother's Day holiday is taking on more significance due to the pandemic. As a result, gifts for Mom are expected to increase a total of $8 per shopper, with most consumers spending about $205 to celebrate the May 10th holiday. NRF says consumers this year are looking for new, creative ways to show Mom they care.

Because of COVID-19, special recognition for Mom might include offering Mom an in-home spa day, where you pamper her for the day. Or, it could be something more interesting, like coming together for a family video call. Items such as electronics, housewares, and gardening tools are also expected to be some of the top go-to items ringing up at the cash registers or being purchased online. NRF has been conducting annual Mother's Day surveys since 2003 to chart how Americans are celebrating "Mom" on her special day. 2020 is anticipated to be a noticeable change from years past.

Millis Transfer knows how important moms are and we're sending best wishes to all the Mothers on this special holiday.
